March Article
I begin this article with a heavy heart as our community has recently lost two dear friends, and so have I. Our City’s deepest sympathies remain extended to the families of Dr. Steven Paul and Ron Dan. Dr. Paul is a primary person responsible for our fabulous dog park, which we recently named in his honor during a live telecast of our Commission meeting in early February, which he and his family were able to see. Dr. Paul was always a great contributor at our Commission meetings, a voice of reason, and a lover of all of our community members including our animals.
Ron Dan, owner of Desron Catering, and another longtime contributor to our City, also passed away recently due to cancer. I was deeply moved at Ron’s memorial service by the eulogies given by his beautiful wife, Desiree, and his three children, and their remarks about such a loving, strong and unselfish man. Both Ron Dan and Dr. Paul will be sorely missed by our community.
As you may or may not know, we are about to head into our next strategic planning session as a Commission to decide on a new budget. We welcome your input as our budget
will reflect your values. As I write this, I’m looking forward to progressing even further with our Commission as we are about to hold our first retreat of the year.
At the time you read this, a year will have passed since I was elected as Mayor, and I have to say it has been a fulfilling year. Thank you to all of the residents who took the time to meet with me and discuss the future of our City.
